Additional Security
Verifying your contact’s lock is an extra layer of security that will warn you if someone has intercepted your friend’s lock and is impersonating them. There are multiple different ways to verify a contact’s lock. Here is one of them:
1. Click on an encrypted email between you and your friend.
2. Navigate to their lock name, it will look something like this:
3. Click on unverified.
4. Call your friend, or use a secure messaging app (we recommend Element), and go through the four sentences to make sure they are identical, then click on the check marks and hit “verify”.
5. Their lock name will now appear green, like so
6.If their lock name ever turns red, this means something has been tampered with. Do not send any emails to this person until getting in touch with them and reverifying their lock.
